Sci-Fi Double Feature
Low-fi, Sci-fi
Created by Brian Fidler and Edward Westerhuis
Sci-Fi Double Feature is an all ages cardboard puppet show filmed and projected live on to the big screen, in order to create a one-take 1960s sci-fi B-movie.
This show is made almost entirely out of cardboard and tape, with a lot of the detailed work fashioned out of paper, string, wire, tape, and shish kabob sticks. By limiting the work to these materials, the show alludes to low-tech effects used in 1960s sci-fi b- movies. Think of the flying rocket ship held by a string, or meteorites made of scrunched tin foil. Sci-Fi Double Feature allows the audience to watch the large screen b-movie or the “making-of” as it unfolds on-stage.
Here’s the films we’ve created:
Attack of the Slime-O-Trons
Two intergalactic lovers must save earth from a hoard of vengeful invaders.
Last Day on Earth
A professor and his dog travel back in time on a quest to prove the existence of a three-headed dinosaur, only to find they’ve arrived minutes before an impending meteorite threatens mass extinction.

Ramshackle Improv
The last Friday of each month we’re hosting a short evening of improv at our shack in the bush. Seating is limited so if you’d like to come please drop us a line @ ramshackletheatre@gmail.com.
80′s IMPROV
In the spring of 2012 we’re putting all of your favourite 1980′s television shows on the stage. First up: The A Team.
See Winluck Wong as Mr. T. Anthony Trombetta as Hannibal. Brian Fidler as Murdock. Erica Bigland as Face. Plus special guest stars including George Maratos, Vanessa Marshak, and maybe you, if you want to be involved.
Can you do a killer Mr. Drummond impression? Can you channel your inner Bruno Gerusi? Are you a dead ringer for Tuti? Drop us a line.
Come out dressed in your best 80′s outfit! You’ve never seen reruns like this. Keep your eyes peeled for details on the show!
Syphilis: A Love Story
Written by Peter Jickling
Directed by Brian Fidler
Syphilis: we’ve got it, you want it! Playwright Peter Jickling’s tale of a misguided writer whose attempts to write a groundbreaking pamphlet on syphilis but finds love instead will be hitting the Canadian Fringe this summer. After an amazing run this spring to sold out audiences in Whitehorse we’re taking this show on the road.
So far we’re locked into Canada’s biggest fringe festival in Edmonton and are waiting to hear about several others. We’re staying in the west this summer so hopefully you’ll see us in Calgary, Victoria and Edmonton!
